My Bachelorette Weekend in Beavers Bend

When I got engaged, there was no question where I wanted to go for my bachelorette party. The stereotypical crowded club isn’t my style, and neither is a buttoned-up get together with the fam.

I wanted a walk on the wild side, but with a comfortable cabin to kick back and relax. I wanted a bachelorette weekend in Beavers Bend.

And what’s not to love?

Cabins straight off a Pinterest board. Out-of-the-box group activities. Wine.

If you’re looking for a last hoorah your way, Beavers Bend is the place to get this party started.

So grab some champagne, put on your feather boa, and get inspired by my bachelorette weekend in the woods.

Day 1

When my friends and I pulled up to our cabin on Friday, we knew this was going to be an unforgettable weekend. Our home for the next few days, Cabin California Dreaming in Broken Bow, was the exact mix of Californian architecture and Oklahoma creature comforts I was looking for.

Inside, we popped some bubbly and admired the floor-to-ceiling windows, pine woodwork, modern boho decor and a deck big enough for the entire Bride Tribe.

And a hot tub.

And a fireplace.

After unpacking, settling in, and enjoying some quiet time in the cabin, we decided it was time to get out and explore for a bit.

Our first stop? Girls Gone Wine, a sassy boutique winery in Hochatown. In the G Spot (uh huh), Girls Gone Wine’s cheekily-named adults-only wine tasting room, we sampled 15 local wines and snagged a souvenir glass to remember the trip. Beavers Bend has several local wineries to choose from, so read up ahead of time for a tasting that suits your crew.

After a glass (or two) of wine, we needed a bite. Fast. Mountain Fork Brewery’s gourmet pizzas hit the spot, and the weather was so nice that we decided to enjoy our pie on the patio.

And wouldn’t you know it: it turned out to be karaoke night. We sang the night away (my go-to is Fergie’s “Fergalicious”) until it was time to call it a night in our cushy king-sized beds.

Day 2

On Saturday morning, we traded our house shoes for hiking boots and hit the aptly named Friends Trail Loop in Beavers Bend State Park. Bring some water for this one. It was definitely a workout. But the views of the Mountain Fork River from the top made it all worth it.

After sweating out the previous night’s pizza party, we rented a pontoon from Beavers Bend Marina for a day on the lake. Pro tip: get your future brother-in-law to captain the ship. It’s your bachelorette party after all. You should be kicking back and perfecting that engagement ring tan.

The weather for our four-hour cruise couldn’t have been better. And the scenery at Broken Bow Lake made it feel like we had transported to a place outside of Oklahoma. We took pictures, snacked on homemade trail mix we made at the cabin, and held on for dear life on the tube.

Safe to say, once we got back to the cabin, we’d worked up an appetite. The spacious, fully-equipped kitchen was fabulous for cooking up our taco dinner, complete with margaritas and fresh guac. And the comfy couches were ideal for game night.

And no night in a McCurtain cabin is complete without a little hot tubbing under the stars. An hour or two of bonding with my girls was the perfect way to wrap up Day 2.

Day 3

On our last morning, we capped off the celebration with brunch on our massive porch. We couldn’t pass up the view, so we snagged a few more group photos. Then, after one final mimosa toast, we loaded a playlist of throwback jams for our trip home through the beautiful Kiamichi Mountains.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a bachelorette party that’s off-the-beaten-path, look no further than Beavers Bend.

With a plethora of group-friendly activities, plenty of natural beauty, and over 2,000 luxury cabins for any style or need, everyone was happy and we made memories that will last a lifetime. I can’t wait to come back soon with my new husband!
