Annual Oklahoma Watermelon Festival

Nothing beats the heat in the thick of summer like a slice of juicy watermelon, and no town celebrates that simple truth like Valliant, where an annual Watermelon Festival is held each summer on the third Saturday in July.

All day throughout Valliant City Park, visitors can simply enjoy their fill of refreshing home-grown watermelon slices or get their game faces on with watermelon eating or seed-spitting competitions and other watermelon-centric activities. Kids can enjoy bounce houses, water slides, pony rides, a magician and more throughout the day.

Other activities include a downtown parade in the morning, live music, horseshoe and checkers tournaments during mid-day, an awards ceremony for the all-day car show during the afternoon, and a rollicking street dance in the evening to cap off the festivities.

For more information on the Valliant Watermelon Festival, including dates and times, visit the Valliant Chamber of Commerce website or call 580-933-5050.
