Your Itinerary:

Ready to unwind with a free fishing trip in McCurtain County? Excellent! Be sure to get some rest—your day on the river starts early.

GRAB YOUR GEAR.

7am

Meet your guide at the local gear outfitter, Three Rivers Fly Shop on HW 259 to kick off your fly-fishing frenzy. They’ll get you set up with waders, boots, and everything else you’ll need for a day on the water (rods included! Of course, if you’d like to use your brand new Orvis Clearwater rod package, that works too!). Then head to your first location to get started—don’t forget to bring your own vehicle! Not to worry—it’s close by.

CAST A LINE.

7:30-11:30am

An oasis of trophy fishing, the Lower Mountain Fork River offers up plenty of brown and rainbow trout in all seasons, making it the closest spot for year-round trophy fishing between Texas and Colorado. This will be your playground. Follow your guide there, wade into the water, and take in a quick lesson. When it comes to fly-fishing, presentation and positioning is key, but most anglers get the hang of things in no time.

Need a little extra attention? Your guide will be happy to help.

FUEL UP.

11:30am-12:30pm

The fish won’t be the only ones nibbling come lunchtime. Enjoy a local spread at the nearby Beavers Bend Restaurant, compliments of your guide.

BACK TO THE RIVER.

12:30-4:00pm

Enjoy the second leg of your fly fishing adventure down on the Lower Mountain Fork River. The Lower Mountain Fork River is well respected for the volume and quality of its trout, and late fall/early winter is a particularly great time for pulling in trophy catches. By this time, you’ll be on your way to pro status, but if not, your guide will be happy to make adjustments. Note: catch and release is the name of the game in McCurtain County, so get ready to kiss your fish and throw ‘em back in.

CALL IT A DAY.

4:00-4:15pm

Thank your guide for a great day on the river, and be sure to share a photo of your proudest catch on social media, with #flyfishbeaversbend. Your guide will return your waders and boots to the fly shop on your behalf, so you can get back to what matters: vacationing!

THE HAPPIEST HOUR.

4:30-6:00pm

Head into town and see what’s cooking. Grab a brew from local favorite, Grateful Head pizzeria and brew pub, or pick up a bottle from Girls Gone Wine to bring home. Kick your feet back and take a break—you deserve it!

HEAD TO THE HOMESTEAD.

6:00-10:00pm

No fishing trip in McCurtain County would be complete without a luxury cabin fit for a king or queen, so head back to yours, switch on the hot tub, throw some steaks on the grill, and let the good times roll. A stocked fridge means snacks will never be out of reach, and a fire pit, horse shoes, and other fun freebies will keep you and your guests happy and horsing around into the night. Ready to wind down? Throw on a movie and fall asleep by the fireplace.

If this itinerary sounds too good to resist, why wait to win? Head this way to book a fishing getaway of your own in McCurtain County!
